What will you find on our new website?

Belgian Cancer Registry (BCR) is proud to announce the launch of its new website. Explore the different sections of our website to learn more about our organization!

1. Homepage
Here you will find an overview of the most recent news items and an overview of the average number of cancer diagnoses per year in Belgium, as well as access to important resources and tools.

2. Registration
Learn more about what data is recorded at BCR and use the search function to look for a specific registration project

BCR collects several types of data. The most important are cancer diagnoses and screening data. Cancer diagnoses are recorded by the hospitals with oncological care programmes and offering basic cancer care and by the pathological anatomy/clinical biology/haematology laboratories. These data include parameters from registration forms and pathology reports. Screening data from regional population surveys for breast, colorectal and cervical cancer are recorded according to specific guidelines by the laboratories.

3. Figures & publications
Find all publications written or co-authored by BCR itself. This section of our website includes different types of publications, including:

  • BCR publications : this includes cancer incidence, cancer prevalence, cancer survival and cancer burden publications;
  • Cancer fact sheet these publications describe the incidence and relative survival of a given cancer for a given incidence year in Belgium;
  • Peer reviewed article: scientific articles published in scientific journals after critical peer review;
  • Book: books in which BCR was involved as (co-)author; and
  • Guideline: practice guidelines in which BCR was involved as (co-)author.

Use the search function with filters to conduct a targeted search for the publications that interest you. Keep in mind that scientific articles are often written in English, so we encourage you to also enter English-language search terms.

Find more info on how to request specific data, and discover our updated drawing module for visualizing data. With this module, you can display your own cancer incidence rates and create graphs based on the available data. Create engaging visualizations and get a better understanding of cancer incidence in Belgium!
