Introduction
Companion diagnostics, or predictive biomarker tests, are laboratory tests that predict whether a patient will derive therapeutic benefit from treatment with a ‘personalised’ medicine. These tests take place before the start of treatment.
Objective
The laboratory that receives the test request registers the test with the result in an automated PITTER register managed by Healthdata.be. These data are forwarded to the Belgian Cancer Registry (BCR) so that epidemiological data will be available at a later stage. Outcome data from the reimbursed tests are also collected in order to evaluate and adapt national policies. The project database contains test and outcome data of patients since 1 July 2019.
Financial support and partners
This registration project is run in collaboration with the Rijksinstituut voor Ziekte- en Invaliditeitsverzekering (RIZIV).
