With this publication, “BCR's role in cancer control – celebrating 20 years, Belgium 2005–2025”, we mark the 20th anniversary of the Belgian Cancer Registry.
This publication outlines the cancer burden in Belgium, providing an overview of cancer incidence over the past two decades (2004–2023) as well as projections for the period 2024–2035. It also presents net survival up to 20 years after diagnosis, together with trends in survival.
Unlike most of our publications, which primarily focus on reporting epidemiological indicators, this anniversary edition also highlights the evolution of our organisation itself. It explores six perspectives—HR, privacy and legal, high‑quality cancer data, key figures and trends, cancer screening research, and registration projects—within an ever‑changing cancer control landscape.
